Directory submission sprint
Two focused hours that get a product onto every free, worthwhile directory — in the order that pays back fastest.
- Who it is for
- Anyone with a launched product and no directory presence
- Time
- About 2 hours
- You end up with
- 15–25 live listings, a spreadsheet of what was submitted, and reminders for the ones that need a badge or a review.
- 1
Prepare one canonical listing
Name, 60-character tagline, 300-character description, 1,000-character description, logo (square PNG), three screenshots, pricing sentence, category, founder X handle. Paste them into a note; every form asks for a subset.
- 2
Build the list
In the directory finder tick Free and Dofollow, minimum DR 50. That is the first pass. Then untick Dofollow and add the review sites — their links are nofollow but reviews accumulate for years.
- 3
Order by friction
Instant-publish directories first (you get links today), review sites second (you need to start the clock), launch platforms last (they deserve their own week). Skip anything that demands a reciprocal link.
- 4
Submit in batches of five
Use the same email, the same UTM-tagged URL, and record the date and status in the spreadsheet. If a directory has a paid fast track under $30 and DR above 70, it is usually worth it; above that, wait for the free queue.
- 5
Handle the conditional ones
Where the link is dofollow only with a badge, decide now: add the badge to your footer or accept nofollow. Do not add ten badges.
- 6
Verify in two weeks
Open each listing, confirm it is live and check the link with view-source. Fix broken ones, and check the Domain Rating checker to see whether your referring domains moved — expect weeks, not days.
